Do you own a classic General motors vehicle? If so, chances are you will have 4×6 speakers somewhere in your car. GM used the 4×6 size in many applications for many years, such as the Silverado, Impala, Caprice, Camaro and more. In the Silverado/Sierra and Suburban/Blazer platforms, 4×6 size was used as the front speakers from 1988 until 1995, and used as rear speakers in the trucks from 1988 until 2008. This sized car speaker is typically a 2 way coaxial, but sometimes comes in a 4 inch with separate tweeter combo, known as a 4×6 plate. They produce great vocals and clarity, and many can handle the wattage of a 4 channel amp.
4×6 speakers are also found in the dash of the 80’s Camaros, and the doors of the 90’s Impala SS. Factory GM speakers were made with low quality materials, such as paper cones and thin foam surrounds. This type of quality wears out quickly, but our replacement speakers are made with much better materials and will last you for years to come. We carry the best sounding 4×6 speakers from Kenwood, Alpine, Infinity, JVC and more, so if you have an older GM vehicle, give Audio Express/Quality Auto sound a call and one of our car audio installation professionals will be glad to set you up with the 4x6 speakers that’s right for you!
